interwoven:

the threads that bind (US.)

genARTS’ 5th Annual Experimental Exhibition

In partnership with Local Color, genARTS is proud to present: INTERWOVEN: The Threads That Bind (Us) at Noble Workshop and Gallery. On view from October 3 to October 30, 2025

This exhibition explores the threads that bind us—whether visible or invisible, personal or collective. What connects you to others, your community, or the world at large? How do joy, resistance, care, or shared experience become the threads weaving our lives together?

Renée Switkes and I collaborated on a piece inspired by and named after the exhibit’s title, Interwoven. Our installation layers materials to explore the visible and invisible threads that bind us. Renée, best known for her luminous floral portraits, created a graphic painting with a call to action inspired by my hand-sewn SiGNS OF LiFE forms made from the DNA of my quilts. 100 SiGNS of LiFE shapes were first exhibited in Radical Regeneration, the 3rd Annual Artist Members Biennial Exhibition at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles in 2022 and at the Randall Museum in San Francisco.

The gallery is open for viewing Thursday-Friday: 12pm to 6pm and Saturday: 12pm to 4pm. Entry is free & there is paid parking in the lots along South Almaden Blvd.
