Rolling Forward With ArtSpan
I’m thrilled to be part of the dynamic “Cross Section: Members Showcase” presented by ArtSpan and Mission Bowling Club including work by Ben Cressy, Lisa McElroy, Nathalie Fabri, sendoodz (Alyssa Yang) and Tatti Carvalho and a solo show, “Over The Hedge” by Sarah K. Horowitz. Being juried into this exhibit feels deeply grounding as I stretch to prepare for upcoming activities over the summer and into fall.
“Bold patchwork textiles bookend the walls, figurative paintings pulse with warm oranges and eclectic pinks, architectural works trace bridges and corridors in geometric blues, and swirling abstract compositions in teal and purple along with intimate portraits and clustered interior scenes that feel like pages from a personal archive. The show moves between the graphic and the atmospheric, the large scale and the intimate, all held together by a shared appetite for color and a willingness to look at the work, its figures, its spaces, its surfaces, with directness and pleasure.”
SAMPLER and PLAiD:432(ONE) were both inspired by my ongoing quest to connect color and pattern across period and place. SAMPLER features some of my checkerboard piecing but expands it into a BEYOND RED WHiTE and BLUE abstraction. As always, look closely at the materials for symbols and double meanings.
